Google’s Halloween Trick
Friday, October 31st, 2008Today, Google added a little something extra to its robots.txt file. As well as the usual disallowed folders, Google added the following piece of code:
User-agent: zombies
Disallow: /brains
This is not the first such “Easter egg” to be implemented by the Search Engine, but it’s good to see that they still have a sense of humour after all these years. This particular piece of festive fun was outed by Matt Cutts after originally being spotted by a blogger. What he was doing scouring the site’s robots.txt file in the first place is a whole other issue.
