SEO In 2009

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

2009 Is now apon us and the new year is going to bring several changes to SEO.  One of the most significant changes is the way in which search is becoming more personalised in 2009.

For those who have a Google account, you will have noticed the ability to promote or demote results, which ill alter the order that pages appear in future searches.  Furthermore, regardless of whether you use these buttons, clicking on a web page displayed in the SERPs will have a similar result.

In addition to this personalised search, Google is planning to use IP addresses to form demographics and personalised profiles to predict which results will be more relevant to your query.  For example, If you search for a lot of computer based terms, when you search for “Java” Google will predict that you are searching for thr programming language rather than the coffee.

One other big change in 2009 is the future of Yahoo. It is the second largest search engine in the world and whether it is sold to Microsoft, Google or another company, its sale will have a significant impact on the future of search.  These are just some of many changes that will be happening in 2009.  All in all 2009 will be a big year for search engine optimisation.
